I have received an email with an attachment. What do I do?
Most emails that arrive with an attachment will have a paperclip icon next to them. Depending upon what email program you use, this will be in the right corner of the message display area. Attachments are nothing more than a file that has been sent along with the email. It can be anything from text files to graphics and images.

To open the attachment, click on the paperclip graphic. A pop-out menu will appear with the name of the file on it. Click on the name of the file you wish to open. You will then be asked what you would like to do. You will be given two choices:

  • Open it
  • Save to disk

If this file is something you wish to keep for later viewing, then choose save to disk. You will then be asked to choose a destination folder. Select where you want it to go and click SAVE.

If the file is not something you want to keep, then just open it and view it there.

    BE WARNED!!!
Email attachments very often carry virus's and other files that may cause problems with your computer. Therefore it is a very good idea to get some form of anti-virus software.

Here are some links to some of the bigger and better companies that offer anti-virus software.

    McAfee
    Symantec(Norton anti-virus)
