Modem dials but will not connect
Double check the modem settings. Look for other programs running at the same time. Any new software added recently?

Try dialing a different number. If that doesn't work, follow the instructions below.

  1. Click START.
  2. Select SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL.
  3. Double click on the SYSTEM icon.
  4. Click on the DEVICE MANAGER tab at the top.
  5. Click in the box next to PORTS (COM & LPT).
    (usaully there will be 3 listed com1, com2, lpt1)
  6. Highlight both com1 and com2 and click REMOVE.
  7. Click OK and restart the computer.
  8. On most systems the PLUG -n- Play feature will detect and install the Com ports again, however if that is not the case go to the next step.
  9. Click START.
  10. Select SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL.
  11. Double click ADD NEW HARDWARE.
  12. Click NEXT
  13. Click NEXT
  14. Let WINDOWS search for the hardware, if by somechance WINDOWS is unable to find any COM ports then call us at 455-2460.
